Operations CXO Status Report

Friday 6 April 2012 9.00am EDT

During the last week Chandra completed the observing schedule as planned.

Chandra passed through the seventh, eighth, and ninth eclipses of the season on Apr 1, 3 and 6 respectively, with nominal power and thermal performance. A real-time procedure was executed on Apr 1 to clear a glitch counter that incremented during eclipse exit. The counter increment is expected under certain timing and thermal conditions.

A real-time procedure was executed on Apr 4 to perform a routine self-check of the Electrical Interface Assembly (EIA) Sequencer.

A Chandra press release was issued on Apr 2 as a NASA press release announcing the selection of the 2012 Einstein Fellows who will conduct research related to NASA's Physics of the Cosmos program, which aims to expand our knowledge of the origin, evolution, and fate of the Universe. For details see: http://chandra.si.edu/press/12_releases/press_040212.html

The schedule of targets for the next week is shown below and includes observations of 1E 1048.1-5937, SN 2012aw, and IGR J17494-3030, which were accepted as a Targets of Opportunity on Feb 3, Mar 23, and Mar 25 respectively and an observation of PTF11qcj, which was accepted as a Director's Discretionary Time TOO on Mar 28.
