Operations CXO Status Report

Friday 6 May 2011 9.00am EST

During the last week Chandra completed the observing schedule as planned.

Chandra passed through the seventh and eight eclipses of the spring season on May 1 and 3 respectively, with nominal power and thermal performance. A real-time procedure was executed on May 4 to perform a routine self-check of the Electrical Interface Assembly (EIA) Sequencer.

A Chandra press release was issued on May 4 as a NASA press release announcing that NASA has made available for the public a new online collection of images of our solar system and locations on Earth where astrobiology researchers travel to conduct field research. Called "From Earth to the Solar System," or FETTSS, the images showcase the excitement of planetary exploration and the journey to understand the origin and evolution of the solar system, and the search for life elsewhere. For details see: http://chandra.si.edu/press/11_releases/press_050411.html

The schedule of targets for the next week is shown below and includes an observation of MAXIJ1659-152, which was accepted as a Target of Opportunity on Apr 5 and is coordinated with the EVLA, and an observation of GX 339-4, which was accepted as a Target of Opportunity on Mar 31 and is coordinated with the ATCA.
